A Bridgeport woman has been selected from thousands of applicants to serve in the U.S. Space Force.

Asia Bravo, 30, served more than seven years in the Army. She was selected to serve as a cyberanalyst for the Space Force, the country's newest military branch that monitors and protects everything from satellites to billion-dollar communication systems.

"Overall, it has just been a blessing to say that, hey, a Bridgeport woman has been selected from thousands of applicants to serve in the U.S. Space Force," said Bravo.

Bravo, who now holds the rank of sergeant, says serving the U.S. Space Force is the honor of a lifetime.

"When they sent out the email saying that they were looking for applicants, I said, you know, I just want to push my limits here and see if, hey, you never know," Bravo said. "I could probably be selected and be a part of history, be a part of something new."

Bravo hopes to grow with the Space Force and credits her father for her success.
