Celebrating 125 years, Hubbard Park in Meriden transforms into a Winter Wonderland during the holiday season.
The Festival of Silver Lights at Hubbard Park is a beautiful accumulation of different displays that represent the city and nostalgia of Connecticut. Meriden, nicknamed the Silver City, was known for manufacturing silver, and the festival honors that history with its soft white light displays. There are over 300,000 light bulbs and over 200 displays at this time including dinosaur displays and large Christmas trees.
Hubbard Park was built by Walter Hubbard, and he wanted a place for Meriden residents at the time to be able to have passive recreation and active recreation for free.
The park was designed so that anyone can visit on a tranquil spring or fall day or bring their family, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and see what the lights have to offer on a cold winter's night.
The Festival of Silver Lights is free and open to the public. The displays stay illuminated until Jan. 1.
