Storm Watch: Heavy downpours, strong winds Sunday; power outages possible
Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Joe Martucci says to expect hit or miss heavy downpours to begin around noon Sunday. Winds will pick up out of the southwest during this time.

Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Joe Martucci says to expect hit or miss heavy downpours to begin around noon Sunday. Winds will pick up out of the southwest during this time. Afternoon wind gusts will be 20 to 30 mph. Thunderstorms with higher gusts will be possible.
After 7 p.m., the rain will be steady. Wind gusts will increase to between 30 to 40 mph. However, thunderstorms that may form will bring higher gusts. Wind damage and power outages will be possible. Road, stream and creek flooding will be possible, as the soaking rain continues overnight.
Around sunrise, the rain will turn scattered. Winds will flip and come out of the northwest. This will crash temperatures down into the 40s and 30s for Monday morning. Rain will change to snow in the morning. However, the only places where accumulating snow will occur will be in Litchfield County.
NEXT: It'll be a chilly Tuesday through Thursday. Highs will be at or just above 40 degrees. A few flurries will be possible Wednesday but it will be dry otherwise. Friday will see seasonable temperatures, going closer to 50 degrees.
