Stamford police: Arrest made in a 5-month swatting investigation

Authorities arrested a juvenile from Maryland, on Thursday, who they say made several swatting calls starting in September and continuing over the next few months.
Lt. Jerry Junes says swatting incidents have increased nationwide in the past few years, and they put first responders at risk.
“At any point in time, our response could result in an accident, could result in an officer getting hurt, could result in someone in the city getting hurt, so having an arrest like this, certainly reduces that chance.”
Police say they received several swatting calls to a residence on Southfield Avenue and four calls to Stamford High School.
The calls falsely reported active shooters, bomb threats and armed home invasions.
Police determined the swatting calls stemmed from an online gaming feud.
“Hopefully, people hearing the information that if you do something like this, we’re going to look for you, we’re going to find you, and you will be arrested,” said Lt. Junes.
The suspect arrested will be arraigned in juvenile court in Bridgeport.
