Connecticut teachers urged lawmakers to do more to improve air quality.
Teachers gathered at the state Capitol on Tuesday for National Healthy School Day to ask lawmakers for upgrades to heating and air conditioning systems.
An air quality working group says 930 schools need upgrades.
"This is not a bill about air conditioning. This is a bill about air quality and the results of bad air quality on human beings," said State Rep. Mitch Bolinsky.
The state has set aside $450 million in grants for school to make air quality upgrades.
A new bill would let schools spread out inspections over the next five years.
