CT electric bills set to increase following regulators' approval of rate adjustment
Eversource and UI officials said they have no control over these “pass-through” costs.
Connecticut residents will see a rate increase in their electric bills following the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority's (PURA) approval of an electric rate adjustment.
Increases could reflect as early as July.
United Illuminating and Eversource officials are saying they don't profit from this.
"We encourage customers impacted by these increases to provide feedback to the legislators who advocated for the programs that resulted in these cost increases," said Sarah Wall Fliotsos, UI spokesperson.
Officials announced that the company will account for the costs of public policy programs in an annual filing called the Revenue Adjustment Mechanism (RAM). These programs are mandated by policymakers and passed on to customers.
"We will continue to advocate for thoughtful long-term solutions to provide Connecticut electric customers with rate stability, predictability, and transparency and hope PURA will consider our proposals in the next phase of the process," said Sarah Paduano, Eversource spokesperson.
Both companies have financial assistance available.
