The other candidates included educator and corporate litigator Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, of Trumbull, former Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, high-ranking state policy expert and advisor Dr. Shante Hanks and Black Rock City Councilman Scott Burns.
What the candidates now need in terms of campaign resources is the support of voters in a race that some say has no apparent favorite.
All five candidates say their focus now will be to campaign hard in the run-up to the Democratic primary in September.
In the 23rd district, Sen. Herron Gaston won his party's endorsement with 49 delegate votes.
City Councilman Ernie Newton, who used to hold that seat, got eight votes, one vote shy of the 15% threshold needed to win a spot on the ballot.
