Some Bridgeport residents and officials said Sunday they are fed up with the chronic heat and hot water outages at an apartment complex on the East Side.
State Sen. Herron Gaston said he has "zero tolerance for on-again, off-again service, especially in buildings owned by out-of-state landlords."
"What I want to say to the New Yorkers and the folks who come from New Jersey and other places who have bought properties here and who are managing properties, you need to come from New York, from your ivory tower, come and see what's going on with people in the City of Bridgeport, and as their state senator and their representative, I will raise my voice to make sure that we hold you accountable," Gaston said.
"I have to have knee surgery. I don't want to have knee surgery on the 20th, and then I got to come home and live in a cold house when I have arthritis. It's not fair to me and it's not fair to my neighbors," said resident Talitha Frazier.
Gaston said service has been restored at that complex, but the problem continues at other properties in Bridgeport owned by out-of-state landlords.
A spokesman for the building said it took months for parts to arrive from overseas.
