A 15-year-old boy who was seriously injured in an e-bike crash Thursday in Trumbull has died, Trumbull Public Schools officials say.

The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on Main Street near Whitney Avenue. Officials say Mason Murren was operating the e-bike, heading south on Main Street, when he was hit by a vehicle driving north.

Murren sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Officers say the vehicle that hit the e-bike was heavily damaged and remained at the scene. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was not injured. No charges have been filed in connection to the crash, police say.

News 12 confirmed on Saturday that Murren is the cousin of Jimmy McGrath, the Fairfield Prep student who was fatally stabbed at a house party in Shelton in 2022. Raul Valle was found not guilty in his murder last week.

Trumbull Public Schools sent an email to parents:

"Our hearts are with Murren family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. We know this news may be difficult for students to process and we understand how deeply it will impact many members of our school community. We understand that receiving this news is very difficult, and we share in your sadness. Please take time to talk with your child about this loss, and reassure them it's okay to feel upset, confused, or even uncertain about their emotions."

Mental health staff will be available at Trumbull High School July 14 and July 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Support will be provided in the career center for students. Anyone looking for additional support can also contact Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center at 203-452-5193.
