It's getting late early in the high school football season with teams jockeying for playoff position.
In the state's biggest game on Friday night, No. 6 St. Joseph handed No. 3 Wilton its first loss of the season.
The Cadets' Finn Kilmartin scored the game-winning touchdown with one minute left in the third quarter.
Meantime in Fairfield, Jonathan Law came up short in its quest to improve to 8-1.
No. 7 Fairfield Prep scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to beat the Lawmen 35-14.
Elsewhere across the state, Fairfield Ludlowe beat Staples, No. 1 New Canaan stayed undefeated, and No. 5 Greenwich and Newtown scored big wins.
