A benefit concert in Fairfield Saturday will help people impacted by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.

Mystic Bowie and Talking Dreads are hosting the Itty Bitty House Jamaica Relief Fundraiser at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Warehouse at FTC.

All proceeds will go toward the Mystic Bowie Cultural Center's Jamaica Relief efforts.

Bowie was in Jamaica when the hurricane hit. His hometown of Accompong was devastated by the storm.

"Most of my students lost either their entire house or roofs from their houses, So we're doing this event so I can actually head back to Jamaica, rebuilt the houses that need to be rebuilt and put roof on the houses that need roofs give them school supplies and everything they need to get their lives back on track," he says.

Over the years, the nonprofit has built a school and a library in Jamaica. Students are able to attend and visit - both for free.

The organization also bring musicians and teachers from around the world to Jamaica where they volunteer to teach music and additional subjects at the school and library.

Tickets are $35.

Attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies and other items to donate.
