A proposal in Nassau County aims to combat human trafficking.

Some county lawmakers are looking to ban hourly bookings and increase training and record keeping at hotels and motels.

Supporters of the bill say the new rules would crack down on sex trafficking and help victims.

Democratic Legislator Viviana Russell, of Westbury, tells News 12, "The other part of it is holding them accountable to ensure that their employees are getting the training. So they would have to submit quarterly to the county, the Department of Consumer Affairs, to ensure that they're actually getting the training. And I think that will be very, very helpful."

The proposal will be brought to the full legislature in 2 weeks.

A similar law is already in effect in Suffolk County.
