A Holocaust survivor is spreading his message to all of those who will listen

Meir Usherovitz was the only member of his immediate family to survive the Holocaust.

“My mother, my younger brother, they took them in this direction, where they took the people to the crematorium,” he said.

Survival meant constant danger, which for Usherovitz even meant hiding food in his pant leg at Auschwitz.

"If they caught you with this piece of bread, they took you right away to the crematorium," he said.

After World War II, Usherovitz met his wife, Doris. They raised two daughters in New York and now have grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For decades, Meir couldn’t talk about the Holocaust. Now, he won’t stop.

“We have to be very careful," he warned, stressing that people can be brainwashed very easily.

“These stories stay with me forever and I have to get it out," Usherovitz said.
