Teaneck police are investigating a string of overnight vehicle burglaries and a stolen SUV that targeted at least 13 vehicles across several streets early Wednesday, authorities said.

Police said officers responded at about 2:20 a.m. April 22 after a Madison Avenue resident reported that three vehicles had been burglarized. A canvass of the area found additional affected vehicles on Madison Avenue, Thomson Avenue, Summit Avenue, Lucy Avenue, East Lawn Drive and Harding Avenue.

At about 4:09 a.m., an East Cedar Lane resident reported a stolen 2021 Honda CR-V. Police said the vehicle was recovered later the same day on Harding Avenue and returned to its owner.

According to investigators, the targeted vehicles were primarily Hondas, along with one Acura. In many cases, airbags were removed, and in some instances personal property was stolen.

Police said the vehicles were entered in various ways, including being left unlocked, having windows broken, or having locking mechanisms forcibly compromised.

Detectives recovered surveillance footage showing suspects in a dark-colored vehicle wearing face coverings. In at least one case, police said a suspect entered a vehicle, removed the airbag and left in about 30 seconds.

Police are asking residents to review and share surveillance footage and to report any suspicious activity.
