Crews battle house fire in Stamford

A house fire broke out early Friday morning on Woodmere Road in Stamford, where heavy flames were reported before crews brought it under control.

Deputy Chief Philip Hayes of the Stamford Fire Department said the fire was rapidly contained despite the intensity of the initial flames. The fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause.

EMS units responded to the fire, but no information on injuries has been released.
