Monday kicks off fare increases of about 5.5% on average for NY Waterway riders to mitigate higher fuel prices.
The president and CEO of NY Waterway sent a letter to ferry customers last week notifying them of the fare hike, blaming the war in Iran for higher fuel costs.
NY Waterway says the price of fuel has jumped more than 80% since January.
Ferries will operate on a normal schedule, but it is unclear how long the surcharge will last.
