Three children have died in the last two months from apparent overdoses of Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine found in Benadryl and other medicines, the Office of the Child Advocate says.

The agency did not say where or when these deaths occurred and they cannot confirm if the overdoses are related to a TikTok challenge.

They add its important parents and healthcare professionals are aware that adolescents may misuse the medication.

Officials are asking parents to be aware that any medication, whether it has a prescription or not, can be dangerous to children of all ages.

They encourage parents to safely store medications, so they are not easily accessible.

Help is available to children who are experiencing a mental health crisis through Connecting to Care, by calling 211 or through one of the state's Urgent Crisis Centers.
