A former Madison Middle School teacher in Trumbull is accused of exchanging inappropriate text messages with a 13-year-old male student, police say.

Ryan LaSella, 34, was arrested Tuesday after he turned himself in to the police. The Milford resident was charged with risk of injury to a child.

Police say an investigation began in March when the Trumbull Police School Resource Officer was informed of a complaint by school administrators.

The complaint alleges that LaSella sent the messages to the student between July 2025 and March 2026. Police say he resigned from his position on April 2, shortly after the officer received the complaint against him.

LaSella was released on a $15,000 bond and is expected to appear in court June 30.
