A section of Scofieldtown Road was damaged after News 12 is told a tree fell over during Saturday night’s storms, taking some power lines with it.

While the tree was cleaned up Monday afternoon, a small part of one lane on the road next to Northeast Elementary school remained barricaded off, thanks to a giant gash in the road’s surface, surrounded by what looks like melted asphalt.

News 12 is told that the wires caught on fire when they came down, leading to the damage.

The buildings in the area appear to have lost power also, and according to Eversource’s website, it is not expected to be fixed until 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.

City officials say that due to the number of calls and downed trees over the weekend, they do not have an exact timeline for when the road will be fixed, but they are coordinating with Eversource on making sure all roads are passable.
