Expect a blend of sunshine and increasing humidity across New Jersey today, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid-80s. The warm, muggy air will help fuel scattered thunderstorms from about 3 p.m. through 9 p.m.

The greatest chance for storms will be across central and southern New Jersey, while only a few isolated storms are expected farther north.

Some of the stronger storms could produce damaging wind gusts, and any thunderstorm will be capable of bringing torrential downpours.

Rainfall totals may reach 2 inches in the heaviest cells, which could lead to localized flash flooding, especially in poor-drainage and low-lying areas.
