Drivers are being urged to avoid part of I-95 this morning after a fatal crash forced closures in both directions earlier.

State police say I-95 north has reopened, but the crash involved a fatality. Police are redirecting I-95 southbound traffic off Exit 40, but the northbound Exit 40 ramp reopened around 5:30 a.m.

Earlier, the state Department of Transportation said a one-vehicle crash shut down I-95 north in Milford between exits 40 and 41. Officials said I-95 south was closed in Orange between exits 41 and 40, and the southbound on-ramp at Exit 41 was also closed.

The crash was reported Sunday night. Authorities have not released information on what may have caused the crash.
