Police: Killingly man threatened to blow up Total Mortgage Arena
Police say Robert Elie was arrested Wednesday night immediately after he called 911 and told officers he would blow up the arena with an explosive device attached to his body. Police say the 34-year-old told 911 his threat was due to his outrage over a government conspiracy.

A Killingly man is accused of threatening to blow up the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport Wednesday, police say
Police say Robert Elie was arrested Wednesday night immediately after he called 911 and told officers he would blow up the arena with an explosive device attached to his body.
Police say the 34-year-old told 911 his threat was due to his outrage over a government conspiracy.
Guests and employees were evacuated after being informed of the threat. Police also cordoned off the area.
Police say Elie was seen walking down the outside stairs of the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater next door. After seeing the police, he threw his phone on to the ground, causing it to break.
Elie was taken into custody without any issue and no explosives were found on him.
A Stamford Bomb Squad Technician with a bomb-sniffing K-9 searched the arena and the area around it but did not find any bomb.
Elie was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center and then police headquarters.
He was charged with threatening.
Police say Elie was previously arrested and faced charges due to his erratic behavior.
