Former state Sen. Dennis Bradley's attorney said Tuesday that he was re-arrested in connection with a ballot-opening investigation.
"When you have these charges in Bridgeport related to politics," Crosland says, "the locals call it 'a bloodsport' of politics."
Chief State's Attorney Patrick J. Griffin says Bradley has been criminally charged in connection with the misuse of absentee ballots during the 2026 Bridgeport Democratic primary.
He was specifically charged with two counts of illegal possession of absentee ballots and envelopes.
The Aug. 11 primary included the position of Judge Probate. Bradley's brother Mark ran against incumbent Paul Ganim.
Prosecutors allege a person complained to police and the State Elections Enforcement Commission that on Aug. 6, Dennis Bradley came to her apartment, opened her previously executed absentee ballot and instructed her to change her vote from Ganim to his brother.
"They're not showing us the entire video yet...all we've seen is what the media has spliced together for its stories," Crosland says. "Once we get discovery, we'll have the entire video, and I think the story will be clearer then."
The SEEC subsequently referred the case to the Office of the Chief State's Attorney for further investigation.
Bradley is expected to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Oct. 21.
"You have a right to change your vote. You have a right to vote for who you want," Crosland says. "I think if that's what she expressed, then I think nothing's wrong here."
These new charges are unrelated to Bradley's campaign fraud convictions.
