The New York State Nurses Association is calling for the reinstatement of a local union vice president who was allegedly suspended without pay after raising safety concerns at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in Brooklyn.

The nonprofit says the suspension occurred on Oct. 9 because she advocated for patient safety and discussed longstanding staffing worries raised by bedside nurses.

The official was also barred from all NYC H+H facilities despite no specific charges being filed against her, according to NYSNA.

Union members say a petition demanding her reinstatement and back pay has received nearly 1,000 signatures.

NYSNA members, hospital staff, elected officials and other labor allies plan to hold an emergency rally and press conference from 12 to 2 p.m. at 451 Clarkson Ave.

NYSNA says they expect dozens of attendees to speak out in support of the official when it begins.
