The Bridgeport Police Department has increased patrols in the North End following a targeted afternoon drive-by shooting on Alba Avenue that left a 20-year-old man in critical condition.
Investigators believe the victim was specifically targeted by a suspect operating a vehicle that may have been carjacked earlier in the day.
While Police Chief Roderick Porter declined to release specific staffing numbers for operational safety, he reassured residents that the community at large is not under threat due to the isolated nature of the attack.
Local criminal justice graduate Esther Mwanza noted that preventing such conflict-driven incidents requires collaborative intervention between the city and local nonprofits, even as officials report that overall violent crime remains down.
