A new report shows sexual misconduct allegations are up at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Nassau County.

The Kings Point service academy released its annual report on sexual assault and sexual harassment from the academic year of 2024-2025.

A total of 31 incidents were documented, up from 24 cases in the previous year, 2023-2024.

The types of misconduct range from sexual assault, including rape, to sexual harassment, stalking, and relationship violence, according to the academy.

The latest number of 31 is the same as the figure disclosed in the 2022-2023 academic year, but considerably higher than the 21 cases in 2021-2022 and 15 in 2020-2021.

“It has never been easier for a USMMA cadet to report prohibited behaviors on commercial vessels at sea,” a spokesperson for USMMA External Affairs tells News 12.

The academy is required to send a yearly report to Congress, following years of sexual assault and harassment.
