A Suffolk County man was arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material earlier this month.

Brian McCort, 31, of Commack, was taken into custody by members of New York State Police Troop L on Oct. 15.

The allegations against McCort stem from an investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, including the Computer Crime Unit, Community Stabilization Unit, and Forensic Investigation Unit.

Investigators further discovered the Long Island man had an active warrant issued in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, where he has been charged with 15 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, police say.

Law enforcement officials are encouraging any parent or guardian who believes their child may have received inappropriate communications from McCort to come forward.

NYS Police Troop L can be contacted by calling 631-756-3300.
