Three more corrections officers were found guilty Friday of beating Rikers Island inmate Jamal Lightfoot in 2012 and trying to cover it up.
According to a press release, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says Department of Corrections Capt. Gerald Vaughn has been convicted of first-degree attempted gang assault, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, first-degree falsifying business records, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and official misconduct after a 12-week bench trial.
The DA says officers Harmon Frierson and Dwayne Maynard were also convicted of official misconduct, a misdemeanor.
Five other corrections officers were found guilty Tuesday.

"I think the verdict sends a message to correction officers all over the country, that if you assault an inmate and attempt to cover up assault you will be held criminally accountable," says Sanford Rubenstein, Lightfoot's attorney.
The officers will be sentenced on Sept. 6.
