Metro-North says three workers were suspended without pay because of a close call on the New Haven Line.
It says the incident happened Nov. 4 when track workers were performing maintenance in the area of Noroton Heights.
The railroad says the workers put down a bridge plate over the tracks and the engineer on one of the trains saw it and was able to stop.
Metro-North says the workers did not use proper radio procedures when making sure no trains would be coming.
