Police arrested three suspects Sunday evening they believe to have been spending counterfeit money from Fairfield to Westport.
A man, his girlfriend and another woman were busted in a Westport Walgreens after an employee realized the money was a fake. Police investigation revealed that the three had originally used the funny money in a Fairfield Dunkin? Donuts, Subway and Athena Diner.
?They have priors for criminal impersonations, identity theft and larcenies,? said Westport Police Sgt. Perez James.
All three suspects were charged with forgery in the first degree and larceny in the sixth degree. Authorities said the Secret Service has advised police that the counterfeit bills may be involved in an on-going case.
