Nassau County police say 22 cars were impounded and around 100 summonses were issued after what investigators described as a large, disorderly and unpermitted car meetup. They say the meetup was held Tuesday night at the Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale.

Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says around 150 cars filled the parking lot around 10 p.m.

“This type of stuff is not going to be tolerated,” Ryder said. “We shut all the roads down so they can't get out,” Ryder said. “They started jumping curbs, going over the grass. Some people lost their bumpers. We got license plates and there are more arrests to be made.”

Nassau police say six people were arrested following Tuesday night's investigation. Officers also recovered a handgun from one of the cars, which had five people inside.

Police say 18-year-old Maleyna Galeano, 20-year-old Nya Reeves and 18-year-old Joshlynn Almonte were arrested, along with two minors who were inside the vehicle.

Police say 28-year-old Jordi Perez was also arrested after investigators found a forged inspection sticker and a baton inside his car.

“You have kids doing sports here, and finding out that it's happening here…it's worrying,” said Christian Turizo of Franklin Square.

The incident comes three days after a separate street takeover in Suffolk County that resulted in 15 people being arrested and seven vehicles being seized.
