At least 800 school workers in Trumbull will receive the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine this week, school district officials say.
Superintendent Martin J. Semmel announced Wednesday that Trumbull Public Schools would be doing remote learning on Friday so teachers can get the vaccine.
The Trumbull Department of Health received 800 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine Wednesday.
Semmel says the doses are specifically for staff working in the Trumbull schools.
"In consultation with the Trumbull Department of Health and the director of nursing, we will be
holding an “educator only” clinic at Trumbull High School from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. this Friday,
March 5," Semmel says.
There will be no students in school buildings at that time.
It was the first clinic designated for public and private school staff.
There's more than 2,000 faculty and staff who are eligible to get vaccinated right now.
Day care workers will have their own clinics as well.
Elementary school staff in Stamford will start getting vaccinated on Saturday.
