ALERTS: Air Quality Alert in effect 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Wednesday
It was a little warmer yesterday, but today’s the day we really feel those 80s kicking in. Along with the heat, humidity is on the rise too—by this evening, the air’s going to feel pretty heavy. Looking ahead to this afternoon, air quality could be an issue, especially for sensitive groups. That’s partly due to wildfire smoke drifting in from western Canada. It’ll give the sky a hazy look today, but since the smoke is higher up in the atmosphere, it won’t directly affect air quality at ground level. Still, the combo of heat, humidity, and ground-level ozone could make things uncomfortable.
Pollen levels? Still running high, unfortunately. Oak, birch, and grasses are the main troublemakers this week. Sunscreen won't be a bad idea either with that UV index pretty high. Sunburn can occur in 20 mins or less.
As for rain, showers and thunderstorms will start to make a comeback tomorrow. A weak front could spark a few pop-up storms—not widespread, but something to keep an eye on.
There’s another chance for storms on Friday, and again later in the day on Saturday. The good news? That’ll help break the heat, with temps returning to more typical levels over the weekend and into next week.
