The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in Bridgeport went before a judge Monday.
Jose Santiago is accused of killing Kiromy Fontanez, 24 inside her home on Pearl Street.
Police say Santiago got angry with Fontanez after she broke up with him. Investigators say Fontanez's 5-year-old daughter, her mother and her mother's boyfriend were home during the time of the incident. They say her mother's boyfriend tried to stop Santiago from coming inside but was shot.
Officers say Santiago confessed to the crime when he was arrested a short time later.
Santiago was physically shaking and kept his head down for the entire court hearing.
This afternoon, a judge issued a protective order for the daughter, mother and mother's boyfriend.
Santiago's bond was set at $3 million and he will appear before a judge again at the end of the month.
