President-elect Barack Obama?s rise has brought jubilation to Stamford?s African-American community.
The Rev. Robert Perry, who leads Union Baptist Church, marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and says he never thought there would be a black president.
"[There] was a tremendous sense of anticipation and anxiety as we waited,? Perry says.
With emotions running high, the Union Baptist Church is planning a special service for Obama supporters to celebrate the historic nature of the campaign.
