A coalition of attorneys general is applauding a major e-commerce decision aimed at curbing vape sales.
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong joined 25 other attorneys general in supporting Shopify’s move to ban the sale of vape products on its platform.
The group had previously sent a letter in November calling for stronger safeguards against highly addictive vape products.
Officials say the ban is a step toward limiting access to unregulated and potentially dangerous items. “Illegally imported bootleg vapes are untested and unsafe, and I welcome Shopify’s decision to stop facilitating their sale,” Tong said in a statement.
Leaders say they hope the move will help protect consumers, especially young people, from harmful products.
