Amazon says it plans to hire 5,800 new employees in Connecticut to help cover the holidays.

The employees will work as drivers and in the company's warehouses fulfilling orders.

Amazon says both full- and part-time jobs are available and many of those hired for seasonal work will have the opportunity to move into long-term employment.

It's part of a bigger plan to hire about 250,000 people nationwide ahead of the holiday rush.
