Lawmakers in Bridgeport highlighted a newly passed legislation that will protect Bridgeport students.
Officials were at Dunbar Elementary School for a press conference on Tuesday.
It's passed the legislature and is awaiting the governor's signature.
Senate Bill 420 will ensure that municipalities are able to monitor, detect and fine motorists who pass parked school buses.
Tickets for infractions will cost drivers $250 and drivers will have 30 days to contest the fine.
Sen. Herron Gaston said 100% of the funds from tickets will go to local municipalities and public safety initiatives.
