A Bridgeport animal shelter remained closed Tuesday after three of the shelter's 53 dogs tested positive for parvovirus.
Teri Brown, the assistant chief of Bridgeport's administrative office, says she believes that the situation at the Animal Control Center is under control. She says the staff is using extreme caution to make sure the shelter is safe for the animals.
Brown says extensive cleaning has been done. She says the virus is highly contagious and very dangerous, so the city wants to make sure the facility is in optimum shape before reopening.
The Bridgeport shelter is scheduled to reopen August 20.
