In honor of the anniversary, the center is holding a three day event this weekend.
It features singers, prayers and religious rituals.
Organizers tell News 12 the temple is a welcoming center to all in the community, regardless of religion.
They are also excited to celebrate the center's success.
"There were so many people involved, volunteers involved in getting the temple constructed and getting it open. To have it see completed in one year successfully and see the membership increase that is a major milestone for us," says Neelam Gupta, the center's president.
