The annual Greater Bridgeport Pride event kicks off Saturday with a Pride march at the colorful steps on Broad Street at 2 p.m.

Unity in the Park at Wheeler Park will follow with performances, vendors, food trucks and activities.

Additional events include an art exhibit at City Lights Gallery and shows at the Bijou Theatre.

Organizers say it's important to celebrate Pride all year long.

"Bridgeport has such amazing individuals and a beautiful community and it's just a time for us to move from a place of love uplift our artists uplift our community," said Xiomarie Labeija, who is performing.
