Another Westport resident targeted by scam call

Police say the person left a voicemail for a resident, saying they were Westport Police Capt. David Wolf.

Another Westport resident received a call from a scammer who tried to trick them into giving up money.
Police say the person left a voicemail for a resident, saying they were Westport Police Capt. David Wolf.
The scammer stated that the resident had a bench warrant and requested that she pay a $5,000 fine.
The resident realized it was a scam and called the police.
Westport police said they would never request a fine over the phone and to report similar instances of scam calls.
