Local art venues say their revenue stream was cut off in March, and now they are calling on the federal government for funding.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal joined directors from eight local theaters at the Palace in Stamford Tuesday to drum up support for two bills he says will help the arts community.
The Save Our Stages Act would provide $10 billion in loans and grants to small theaters across the country. The Restart Bill would extend and broaden PPP loans for all small businesses.
Theater directors say a great live venue means a thriving downtown.
Theaters will be allowed to hold events of up to 25% capacity when Connecticut reaches phase three of its reopening plan.
