One of Westport's own is being recognized by the town after becoming an Olympic silver medalist.
Julia Marino medaled in Women's Slopestyle Snowboarding at the 2022 Beijing Winter games.
A local artist created an art piece using two images -- one of Marino competing for the medal and one of the moment she won.
It will hang for one year at the Saugatuck Train Station for the town to see and honor her accomplishment.
"It means a lot to have this up here. It's been really cool to see how the town has been so supportive of me growing up here and all and having the event at the library where I had a lot of friends and family and supporters come. That meant a lot just to know how many people are watching and looking out. It's really huge for me, I come out on this strip a lot to eat dinner so I'm going to be excited to walk past this every time I come down here to eat," said Marino.
In one year, the piece will be handed over to Marino's family to keep at their request.
