As the temperatures drop across southwestern Connecticut, finding a warm place to go is a necessity for those who are homeless.

Many in Bridgeport find refuge at the Prospect House, where there are 64 beds available for men and women who need a place to sleep. The director says they are already at full capacity, but on cold nights as expected Tuesday, people usually ring the shelter's doorbell throughout the night. The director says that if they don't have enough beds available they lay out some cots in the day room area.

The Norwalk Emergency Shelter located on Merritt Street has 95 beds, but officials say they're already using their overflow space. Many clients say they're grateful for a chance to get a good night's rest. Something they say is almost impossible to do when sleeping out on the cold streets.

Officials at the shelters say they are in need of hats, gloves and scarves for the guests. Those donations can be dropped off at anytime.
