Connecticut's attorney general is demanding answers to why the price of the lifesaving drug Narcan is rising so fast.

As heroin overdoses spike, so does the demand for Narcan.

The one company that makes it has more than doubled its price in the past year.

"To date, I have yet to see any public justification for these increases," said Attorney General George Jepsen in a letter to drugmaker Aphastar. "These increases will undoubtedly make our effort to save lives much more difficult."

Aphastar hasn't said why it's increasing prices, but the state of Massachusetts is also investigating the spike.

A new bill that passed this year allows anyone to get a prescription for Narcan.
