A driver was taken into custody last night after state troopers say they found a large number of pills inside his vehicle on Route 25 in Bridgeport.
Authorities say 26-year-old John Connelly was pulled over after troopers spotted him driving a black BMW at 120 mph at exit 5.
According to investigators, when Connelly was stopped, state troopers smelled marijuana inside the car and noticed the driver was impaired. They say they also discovered a large amount of drugs in a non-prescription container and a stash of nearly $5,000 in cash.
Connelly has been charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, reckless driving and driving under the influence. He's due in court April 12.
