A Norwalk dance company performed Friday to mark Autism Awareness Month, which runs through April.
The Ballet Etudes Company put on "Carnival of the Animals" at the Westport Country Playhouse in front of a crowd of children with autism and other special needs.
Christina Fagundes Turner, the resident choreographer, says some of the dance moves on stage were inspired by moves her son, who also has autism, uses in his swim therapy class.
During the performance, the house lights remained on, and the sound was lower than normal to accommodate the children.
