? Residents of Greenwich are mourning the loss of two women who shared a love for reading with generations of children.

Kate McClelland and her colleague Kathy Kransiewicz were killed in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday when a driver ran into their taxi on the way to the Denver, Colo. airport.

The two librarians from Perrot Memorial Library were in the mile high city for a conference.

During children?s story time at the library, Kransiewicz, known as Mrs. K, and McClelland, known as Mrs. Mac, read books and were known for the tales they used to tell children.

At the entrance to the children?s wing of the library Thursday, a poem was on display to honor both of them. One mother recalled what they meant to the community.

?They made everything in the community in the library a fun place to be and [they are] going to definitely be missed by the children, by the parents, just a great loss, a real tragedy,? says Tania Priatka.

The alleged driver in the hit-and-run accident is Sandra Lee Jacobson of Centennial, Colo. Jacobson has been charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Police say the suspect was drunk, but they are waiting for test results to come back.
