State lawmakers are warning about Artificial Intelligence.
From your home Alexa device to your Netflix queue, AI is everywhere. But little is known about how both the state and local government are using it.
A bi-partisan group of lawmakers are now calling for an AI Bill of Rights in Connecticut.
"That's what we want to look at, is these algorithms that are making critical decisions. And we know that they impact us all. As we mentioned, being used in hiring. It could discriminate based on age," said state Sen. James Maroney.
"We fully support transparency. We don't want to see anybody discriminated against. And what we also think that the citizens' data should be protected in the same way with the government as it is with private citizens," said state Rep. Dave Rutigliano.
